Project Description The transfer bag facility dedicated to Terminal 1 is seen as one of the best performing baggage systems at Heathrow airport. The Millar Management team worked very closely with BAA to design the operation, from building concept, operational layout and baggage system solution. It used its detailed knowledge of baggage system operations combined with process engineering to create a highly effective facility which out performs other transfer facilities at the airport.

Solution On agreement with the concept design, Millar Management project managed the building of the facility. It was responsible for managing the £11M budget, selection and management of contractors and achieving the project timescales. The facility was developed within budget and within very challenging operational timescales. |
Outcome The transfer facility created is known as Building 139 at Heathrow's Terminal 1. It is considered to be one of the highest performing baggage systems at the airport, including both operational performance and cost efficiency. The success of this project gained Millar Management the reputation as one of the most effective Project Management teams in the airport industry.
